Since its inception in 2005,
SouthWoodstock has become a landmark event in Tallahassee: A one-day
festival held on the spacious John Paul II Catholic High School campus
in Tallahassee, Florida. The event’s first annual installment sold out
with no traditional advertising—an unprecedented achievement.
With headliners like Superheroes, Low Flying Planes, and Swingin' Harpoons,
SouthWoodstock features many of the top artists in the grassroots rock genre,
along with acts in complementary styles such as jazz and blues.
SouthWoodstock programming combines
the richness of roots traditions with the freshness of the cutting
edge, combining many styles and formats into one dynamic experience.
Hailed among critics and fans for its near-flawless logistics, peaceful
vibe, and progressive lineup, SouthWoodstock features a stellar music
stage and a 37-acre entertainment campus. In addition to dozens of
memorable performances, the festival buzzes with round-the-clock
attractions and activities including art displays, children activities,
and car shows, not to mention countless vendors providing high quality
crafts. A foodcourt is available with lunch and snack items at
great prices. Also soft drinks, beer and wine are available.
Specific activities for 2010 include: "Seminole Radio Control Club", Classic
Cars Show, Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides (weather permitting), Hayrides, Facepainting, Volleyball, MoonWalk, Sidewalk
Chalk Art Contest, FHP Mobile Command Center Tours and more!
In 2009, participants called SouthWoodstock “the most ambitious and successful festival of the year.”
